GM&OHS NEWS issue #128 was mailed
to members on Monday December 5th,
completing our publishing schedule for 2011. Included with this
mailing is a 2012 Membership Renewal form.
Please renew promptly, as this keeps the Society's costs down.

This issue of the NEWS
starts with a look at a less-than-catastrophic collision in the Chicago
area involving "Final No. 6 to BPY" occuring in 1961. See exactly
what went wrong when there was a Mishap at the
Panhandle.
Our second feature is another
well-researched look at predecessor power by author David Bridges.
The Mobile, Jackson & Kansas City bought a small fleet of locomotives
new from Baldwin, which would go on to form the early core of the GM&N's
power roster. Included are some rare photographs of these
locomotives in service at the beginning of the GM&N's existence.
