Special Edition Car No. 33

The Society is proud to announce GM&OHS Special Edition Car #33, our Front Range Products 40' boxcar with aftermarket 10 foot (Accurail or Details Associates) doors for absolute authenticity!  As you know, the FRP line has not been produced for over a decade.  However, the Society was able to secure 200 undecorated kits for this project.  These cars are prototypically accurate, as well as highly detailed, yet very easy to assemble in one evening for an outstanding looking model.

We have chosen four representatives of the 24000 series of rebuilds for this offering.  All of the cars are dark green with aluminum roofs and white lettering but each car represents a different rebuild date from the 1966-1970 period.  Though at first glance they all appear to have the same scheme, each car is unique with its lettering style and/or placement, return route information, type of door (corrugated or paneled), and length of ladder (half or full).

Car no. 24057 has its roofwa1k, full ladders, a 4-66 rebuild date, 10 foot Superior 6 panel door, a slightly slanted, skinny "DF" insignia and return information to MP Agent, KC, Mo.

Car no. 24171 has a bare roof, half ladders, a rebuild date of 8-68, 10 foot Youngstown door, a medium thick "DF" logo and return route information to Meridian, Miss.

Car no. 24261 is also less its roofwa1k, has half ladders, a rebuild date of 9-70, 10 foot Youngstown doors, a large Pullman Standard style "DF" logo and return routing to Beaumont, Miss.

Car no. 24284 has the same features as no. 24261, however, the rebuild date is 12-70 and the car has a return routing to Philadelphia, Miss.

Several dozen cars from the 24000 series lasted into the late 1980's, so even the ICG, CSX, NS and post MP, UP fans out there can have these cars on their layouts.  Only 50 sets are being produced so don’t miss this opportunity to acquire a quartet of these beauties!  We expect this terrific set of cars to sell quickly, so get your order in as soon as possible, and thank you for your support of this Society project.

MDT Non-Leased Version - Supplemental Release

MDT did not lease all of these cars to second party railroads such as the GM&O.  Since the artwork was essentially complete for this MDT non-leased version of the steel stage ice reefer, the Society decided to offer to our fellow modelers of other railroads a car that also hasn't been offered by any major manufacturer.  As above, this three car set is $70.00 postage paid.  Three road numbers are included (9317, 9341, 9522), all correct for the non-leased status of these cars.

In addition, for our New York Central friends, we have had our graphics contractor create the NYC logo and appropriate return routing information as decals.  These are included with every Supplemental Car order so that modelers may make one, two or all three of their non-leased cars into NYC leased cars.
