1989
Rd. No. 2954
In 1989, the GM&OHS decided to offer a representation of the
International Car Co. extended vision cabooses delivered in
the 1960’s. This project coincided with the purchase of the
Society’s caboose, currently housed at the Monticello
Railway Museum. The only problem was that the closest model
of an International wide vision caboose at the time was the
Athearn kit, which was actually based on a much shorter Rock
Island prototype. But, with good paint and well done
graphics, the project was enthusiastically received and
helped raise money for the restoration of the real 2954. |

---------
The other unnumbered HO-scale project for the Society
produced the most perfect of marriages with a correct model
coupled with stunning paint and graphics. The kit used was
the Intermountain Railway 50’ PS1, while the cars
represented were from the GM&O’s 50,000-series of green
boxcars. The 75 sets of four cars sold out in a few months,
and unlike other green boxcar projects from the Society or
anywhere else, these cars rarely appear for resale.
